"After seeing the
course content, I have to say, there are many working full-time in
radio, who would benefit from this course! It's also a great starting
point for anyone wanting to get their first foot on the radio ladder.
Very well structured, with bags of tips and skills advice."
ROY MARTIN OWNER
- RADIO TODAY
The Radio Surgery runs one-day group radio presenter training courses from The
Lancashire Digital Technology Centre, located in Burnley, Lancashire. The course is operated
with a minimum of four clients and a maximum of six. Each session runs from 09:30 until
approximately 17:00, with refreshments included. Clients may purchase lunch on site, with a
good choice of hot and cold items.
These group radio presenter training courses are aimed at the following people:
-
Those with no radio experience at
all.
-
Hospital/student/RSL/community/local
radio presenters, wishing to either make a move up the radio ladder,
or simply wanting to enhance their current skills.
-
Pub and night-club DJs, who want
to see if they can make the move across.
With tuition from a seasoned radio
professional, your radio presenter course begins by talking you through the radio studio
equipment. After the initial guided tour of the equipment (and all the
technical terms!), you have some time for hands-on experience. Then we
look at what makes a good radio presenter and what current Station
Managers and Programme Controllers are looking for. Plus, how to
broadcast good links, compile show prep, script read and interview.
Lots of do's and don'ts! We then move on to coaching you through script
reading and general links. Pointing out your weak areas and looking at
the stronger points. Once we’ve got on the right track, it’s onto
recording some sample links.
This course is an alternative to our one-to-one radio presenter training course. Less time is spent on individual
coaching and the session is pre-set. Whilst some clients may benefit from the whole
course, others may benefit from certain sections more than others. If you already have knowledge
of a radio mixer, for example, the presentation skills section will be of more benefit.
It's not just presentation skills that you'll learn: Hear what Station Managers and PCs are looking for
on that all important demo. You usually only have one shot, so get it right first time!
We also give you guidance notes from a senior member of the radio industry. Compiled purely for
The Radio Surgery!
You'll leave with training/advice notes/props and a certificate. We'll also forward on to you a recording of
your sample links, plus an appraisal of your current skill level.
The cost? Just £99 (no VAT)! The group radio
presenter training courses are run on weekdays only and are open to clients aged 18 or
over. To book, or for more information, simply call us on 01282 452 451, or e-mail us:

A course date will only be confirmed once four clients have booked and a mutually agreed date
sought.
For those clients who, at this stage, don't want individual coaching, this is an ideal, low cost,
alternative.
Great for students about to enter university and wishing to work on its in-house radio station. Fantastic for those old enough to remember the pirate stations of the 1960s and want to see
how it's done today. Ideal for anyone who has always wanted to work in radio, but never done
anything about it!
